Technology Education at PCS
Since 2020 Pacific Christian School established a one-to-one student initiative to help equip every student in all grades with their own device. A dedicated computer teacher meets weekly during the year with each elementary class to introduce and teach students all applications found on Google Workspace for Education. Students learn age-appropriate skills with Google. This helps students and teachers to communicate and collaborate more effectively. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive allow users to create and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more. Each student Chromebook is charged nightly in a cart held in each teacher’s room. Teachers use various applications in the classroom to get baseline assessments in reading and mathematics. Benchmark goals are established each quarter between students and teachers. Quarterly assessments measure student growth and are reported to parents. In middle school, students start producing much of their work electronically. They make presentations to the class, turn in writing projects and reports as well as save and share documents appropriately when required. Students and parents are kept up to date on daily lessons, student grades, class newsletters, and more.
Every classroom is also equipped with a Promethean Smart Board to help provide teachers with technology resources that will enhance interactive teaching and learning. Teachers can draw on unlimited video resources when necessary and draw on multiple teaching resources with teacher tools online. Our Bible curriculum is delivered online and also provides adequate printable material.
